A Different Beginning: Utilising Your strengths and Cultivating Resources to Create a New Narrative Moving Forward
Nothing is predestined. The obstacles of your past can become the gateways that lead to new beginnings.”
– Ralph Blum
The initial and essential component of the SYNAPSE platform, this module holds a unique significance as it will be a recurring guide throughout your usage of SYNAPSE. Acting as a compass, it assists in reviewing your goals and progress, directing you through the process.
Utilizing the 5-Area Cycle Model in CBT
You will commence by employing the 5-area cycle model in CBT to recognize your thoughts, emotions, physical reactions, and actions in response to various situations. Reflecting on these cycles will help determine the direction and goals you wish to pursue, leading to the completion of the 'setting and achieving goals' module. Subsequently, akin to a customizable story, you will have the freedom to select which module(s) align best with your goals.
Rooted in Positive Psychology
This module, grounded in Positive Psychology, encompasses a variety of psychological concepts, practices, tools, online journals, and worksheets aimed at enhancing positive emotions and wellbeing. These components, known as Positive Psychology Interventions (PPIs), have been empirically validated through scientific studies and have proven effective in clinical settings for diverse groups. They are designed to leverage your inherent abilities, motivating you to make positive changes and sustain wellbeing.
Strategies for Wellbeing
The strategies offered include gratitude, savouring, self-compassion, kindness, mindfulness, forgiveness, physical activity, sleep, and more. While some strategies are elaborated on in specific modules, this module serves as an introduction to all, allowing you to immediately begin utilizing them to enhance your mental wellbeing.
